FIRE RETARDANT

Treatment

The process consists of applying a fire retardant product on various kinds of material. When this is done, it protects your material against fire by modifying its molecular surface. The objective is to delay or stop the flame from spreading on the protected material.

Different fire retardant products are used based upon the materials to be protected, it is important to choose the appropriate product. It is also very helpful to receive a sample of the material that you wish to protect.

Due to the various types of fire retardant, we strongly recommend using a professional to do the application based upon his experience and knowledge. This will insure the effectiveness of the fire retardant chosen and furthermore appropriate testing will be done and issuance of a certificate of conformity.

Rules

Different rules and regulation are applicable in the fire prevention field. Fire protection in public places is the responsibility of all. It is important to know your responsibilities.

Each municipality and City has its own fire prevention department who is responsible for applying the various Codes and Standards and to make sure that your installations are safe. Your local fire department is an excellent source of information to better understand you role and responsibility in fire prevention.

The applicable standard in most municipalities is the Canadian Standard: ULC (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada) or the American Standard: NFPA (National Fire Protection Association). As a professional in this area, we are aware of the importance of meeting these Codes and Standards when applying fire retardant.

Certificate

We issue a Certificate of conformity according to the Canadian, the American Standards or most standards applicable to your area.

We also add a tag on each piece of material as a treatment proof which includes the date the product was treated and the certificate number.
